GOAL:
The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate
youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy
of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our
children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the
annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.

If you got the tires from Costco, just spin the wheel in there and ask for a patch. Should be free and they usually can do it right away (under an hour or so).

Just an FYI folks:

We'll be meeting for the NVMC club cruise portion of the day at the usual meeting place (Dulles Expo Center location). From there we head to Walgreen's to pick up some toys. Then we head to the main-cruise meeting point at the Walmart in Fredericksburg VA. From there we can do toy shopping at the Walmart, then we will roll out for the main cruise to the Toys for Tots warehouse.

When?: We will be meeting at the Expo Center (http://northernvirginiamustangclub.com/forums/content.php?134-NVMC-Club-Meeting-Locations) at 6am, and rolling out at 6:40 sharp!

4368 Chantilly SC, Chantilly VA 20153

Here's the map of the route we intend to take for the NVMC portion of the run:
https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?vps=15&hl=en&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=206471275921599138153.0004cf9501593f866e869

Alternatively people can meet us at the Walgreen's, however we won't have much ability to wait for anyone who's late, as we have to skip through on a schedule. The address for the Walgreen's is Devlin Rd, Bristow, VA and we will be arriving at around 7:10-7:15 and leaving at around 7:30-7:45.

Walgreen's, 9150 Devlin Rd, Bristow, VA

For those of you who may wish to just meet us in Fredericksburg (1800 Carl D Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg, VA), we'll be meeting up at 9am at that location, along with the other participating clubs.

Walmart Supercenter, 1800 Carl D Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg, VA

This is a rain-or-shine event, so use your best judgement, please! If the weather looks questionable, feel free to bring an alternate vehicle (SUV, truck, etc).

Once we reach the final destination, load the toys into the warehouse and have a group meeting for photo-op and stats, the event will be over. At that point participants can make their own ways home (or wherever the case may be).

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at info@northernvirginiamustangclub.com

Thanks, and hope to see you this Saturday!

I really want to make this event, however I need to be back in Ashburn no later than 2:00 PM. Based on the agenda for the day, do you guys think this is possible? I'd love to get the GT out after about a month of inactivity, and of course it would be great to meet everyone in person while cruising for such a good cause.

BMFGT
11-29-2012, 01:07 PM
I think its very possible - the only thing to be aware of is parking at Toys for Tots warehouse.

From what I remember from last year all the mustangs are parked literally packed between two warehouse buildings. It is an awesome site to see all the stangs but if you need to get out early there is no easy way to leave after you park cause it depends on the stangs around you leaving first which starts around 12:30.

I am not sure if its officially allowed but a simple workaround maybe just parking your mustang elsewhere within the complex. I saw a couple folks do this last year. Maybe with the proper approval from the event organizers this could be done.

We use to have pictures on the old forum so you could see what I am talking about. It's an awesome event and hope you can make it!

And JudgeDredd, it is not that I don't want to commit the 4 hours and have better things to do, it's just that I have committed to an event in Washington DC with my wife that I cannot miss or be late for. If it is going to cause a stir if I need to leave early I will just sit this one out.

You might be able to make it back to Ashburn in time if you leave the drop off site early. Just park on the perimeter and don't follow the crowd to the parking area.

You can always go for the first part (our part) and leave at the Walmart. Although I think we're supposed to be done around 1-ish. I don't know how long it takes to get from the Toys drop off to your destination, though.
Might I suggest bringing required parties with you to the cruise? You'll have fun together and then can roll into DC straight from there.

There's usually two places to park at the event. The main corridor and then also the side parking lots (assuming the venue is the same). Participants don't have to park with everyone else when they arrive, so people who have to leave early can choose a spot separate from the group so they can get out when they need to.

We use to have pictures on the old forum so you could see what I am talking about. It's an awesome event and hope you can make it!
All the pics from the old gallery were uploaded to the club Flickr group pool, here (http://www.flickr.com/groups/northernvirginiamustangclub/).
I don't think they were tagged, though, but I believe the dates on them should be from around the Nov-Dec-2011 time-frame.
